Sport Matters is an independent non-profit organisation founded in Australia in 2011. Sport Matters aims to make a positive and long-lasting impact on development in Australia and developing countries with a focus on the Pacific, Asia and Africa.

Sport Matters is an independent, non-profit, non-government organisation based in Sydney, Australia. The organisation is governed by the relevant provisions of the Corporations Act 2001 and its own Constitution adopted by its members in 2011.

Advocacy is at the heart of Sport Matters commitment to social change. This policy defines how and why Sport Matters advocates for sport in development.
Protecting children from harm is the responsibility of all those who participate in the work of Sport Matters. Sport Matters will not tolerate the abuse and exploitation of children and this policy outlines the organisations child protection policy, procedures and code of conduct.
This policy assists Sport Matters to effectively identify, disclose and manage any actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest in order to protect the integrity of Sport Matters and manage risk.
Sport Matters takes complaints seriously and is committed to listening to and resolving complaints in a timely, transparent and efficient manner. All feedback is welcomed as we are committed to continuous quality improvement of our service delivery.
Sport Matters uses a rights-based approach in all its dealings. This policy articulates Sport Matters commitment towards ensuring everyone has an opportunity to enjoy human rights and achieve their full potential using ‘sport for development’ as an instrument to build individual and community capacity.
Sport Matters undertakes aid and development activities without political or religious affiliations. This policy articulates Sport Matters commitment to allocating funds and other resources designated for the purposes of aid and development in accordance with the constitution.
Protecting your personal information and the security of your data is very important to Sport Matters. This policy describes the information collection procedures of Sport Matters.
Preventing Sexual Exploitation and Harassment
Sport Matters is committed to safeguarding the people it works with and for. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that Sport Matters staff and volunteers maintain their obligation to uphold high standards of personal and professional conduct at all times and not abuse their position in order to exploit or abuse another person.
Sport Matters will share as much information as practicable about its operations and impact, while balancing legal and practical limitations. This policy ensures Sport Matters staff and volunteers operate openly and transparently.
Sport Matters is committed to fostering a culture where it’s directors, staff and volunteers are encouraged to raise concerns about unethical and unacceptable conduct and can do so in a safe environment.

Our Board
Sport Matters is governed by a Board of Directors. Our Board brings a wealth of experience in the corporate, public service and not for profit sectors in Sport, Governance, International Development, Gender, Disability Inclusive Development and Advocacy.

Sport Matters has a network of volunteers and consultants that bring a strong passion for the role of sport to create lasting social change and a diverse range of professional backgrounds and qualifications.
